About Us

Originally founded in 1969, Trailmates Snowmobile Club is today just over 145 families strong, based in Wausau, Wisconsin and hosts the annual Wausau Snowmobile Grass Drags & Swap Meet event with the volunteer help from our many members and their families.  Powersports vendors and those with snowmobile and/or ATV related products to sell or swap come from throughout a tri-state region (WI, IL, MN) and arrive at our event every year attracting many local enthusiasts as well as those from all around the region seeking to purchase their goods and services.  The 2013 season marks the 24th annual Wausau Grass Drags & Swap Meet in Central Wisconsin as hosted by Trailmates.

Trailmates Snowmobile Club was also voted the International Snowmobile Club of the Year in 2011 by the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame in Eagle River, Wisconsin.  This award is a prestigious honor for the club to receive.

By size comparison, Central Wisconsin's Marathon County (where we're based and also highlighted on map) is over 300 square miles larger than the entire US state of Rhode Island!  Marathon County is the largest county in Wisconsin and also has the highest number of ATVs registered in the state.* The County is currently 3rd in Wisconsin snowmobile registrations with over 8700 registered snowmobiles here*, ranking just under the Wisconsin Northwoods counties of Vilas (#2) and Oneida (#1) in snowmobile registrations.  There are almost 900 miles of snowmobile trails to enjoy in all of Marathon County too; 884 to be exact.  Trailmates Club volunteers work diligently to maintain these trails for all riders and to help promote safe snowmobiling throughout the County and in its various club functions around the state of Wisconsin.
